Rometti continues to have its own museum, but today it takes on a new form. With the Galleria Rometti, our history becomes part of the Museo Civico Santa Croce, within the story of 20th-century Umbertide. It is a recognition that deeply moves us and makes us proud of a history that, since 1927, has belonged to the city and its surrounding area.

UMBERTIDE

The Galleria Rometti, inaugurated on September 24 inside the newly renovated Museo Civico Santa Croce, brings together a selection of works that trace the history of the Manufactory from 1927 to the present day. Its presence within the Museum takes on a particular significance, becoming part of the story of the city alongside the works and artefacts that span its centuries of history: from Etruscan archaeological finds to works by Luca Signorelli and Pomarancio, through to the artistic and industrial history of the 20th century. For almost a century, Rometti has been producing in Umbertide, intertwining its own journey with that of the local area. Generations of craftsmen, artists and designers have helped shape a Manufactory that has made ceramics a language capable of transcending time, engaging with research and design, and carrying the name of Umbertide beyond its borders. For this reason, the Gallery tells not only a manufacturing story, but also a cultural and artistic one, deeply connected to the city and to Umbria. During the inauguration, our CEO, Massimo Monini, highlighted precisely this: “When a manufactory spans a century of history, when it brings together generations of people and different cultures, it leaves a distinctive mark on the local area. At that point, that manufactory also becomes a shared heritage.” The opening of the Gallery comes on the eve of another important milestone for Rometti: its centenary in 2027. A milestone we look towards with an awareness of the important history behind us and a determination to continue shaping its future. Today, being part of the city’s Museum means recognizing in these ceramics what Rometti has been, but also what it continues to be: a living part of the history of Umbertide.
The Rometti Gallery is now open to the public, and we are delighted to share this new space with anyone wishing to discover more about the history of our Manufactory and the bond that has connected it to Umbertide for almost a century. We look forward to welcoming you.
