FOLIA (from the Latin folium, meaning both "leaf" and "sheet") emerges as a profound reflection on the concept of surface and its transformation into three-dimensional form. Conceived by the creative minds at Naessi for Sota and expertly brought to life by Rometti, the collection draws on the secret language of nature. - “The plant world is rich in three-dimensional surfaces that exhibit formal variations while maintaining constant thickness. These surfaces are light and seemingly fragile, yet through folds and curvatures they acquire unexpected aesthetics and great mechanical strength. Our research stems from the analysis of flat surfaces that evolve into three-dimensional forms. We began by observing the spatial complexity of flower petals and manipulating the veins and oriented fibers that define leaves: we gathered examples, catalogued them, and cut them out. Finally, we decontextualized and reimagined them in abstract terms—much like the cryptic architectural fragments that abound in Rome,” - explain Naessi. The collection for Sota includes two trays and one vase, each produced in a limited edition of only five pieces. The objects are distinguished by an elegant denim blue glaze that plays subtly between opacity and transparency, revealing the artisan’s hand in every gesture traced on the surface. In parallel, the collection for Bar Sota was born: a series of three vases/containers and six plates/trays, all finished in a glossy cheddar yellow. With their undulating silhouettes and multifunctional nature, these pieces adapt fluidly to their surroundings—becoming serving trays, food platters, centerpieces, or sculptural vessels. Designed for a hybrid space where the bar transforms into a gastronomic club, the FOLIA objects invite new narratives to unfold between creators and those who inhabit the space.

With FOLIA, Rometti reaffirms its role as a crucible of excellence in the world of auteur design, seamlessly blending artisanal savoir-faire with a drive for experimentation. A workshop where matter is questioned, shaped, and reimagined—giving form to radical and refined visions of contemporary design.
