For fourteen editions, the Rometti Award has brought the ideas of the young designers and artists of tomorrow into the Rometti Manufactory in Umbertide. A tangible encounter between creativity, ceramics and craftsmanship, where ideas take shape and become material.
INTO THE MATERIAL
ROMETTI AWARD 2026

Some ideas are born on paper. And then there are those that truly come to life when they meet the material.
This is the heart of the Rometti Award, now in its 14th edition in 2026: creating a space where a new generation of artists and designers can meet a manufactory that has been exploring, interpreting and reinventing ceramics for almost a century.
From 20 to 24 July 2026, six young talents from Italy, the United States and Portugal stepped through the doors of the Rometti Manufactory in Umbertide for a special week: a complete immersion into the world of ceramics, working side by side with our master craftsmen to transform a design concept into a tangible object.
A moment when the project meets the material and, inevitably, changes.
Our thanks go to Charlie Johnson from University of Washington, Elisa Cecchini from Istituto Italiano di Design di Perugia, Alexandra Mitu from Nuovo Istituto di Design di Perugia, Elena Pietrini from Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze, Maria Vittoria Martinoli from Nuovo Istituto di Design di Perugia, and Africa Gonzalez I Mateu from Escola Superior de Artes e Design in Portugal, for sharing their ideas, enthusiasm and creativity with us.
See you in October for the final ceremony, when the three winners of the 14th edition of the Rometti Award will be announced.
