“Le Mani d’Oro: 10 Stories of Great Italian Master Artisans” is the new educational project created by Librì – Progetti Educativi in collaboration with the Fondazione Cologni dei Mastieri d’Arte and The Place of Wonders Foundation. Through an illustrated book and a dedicated educational program for schools, the initiative aims to bring younger generations closer to the world of Italian high craftsmanship.
LE MANI D’ORO:
THE FUTURE OF
CRAFTSMANSHIP

A project that brings the cultural and human value of artistic craftsmanship into schools. A journey through skills, traditions, and innovation, showing how hands can preserve the past while building the future. An invitation to younger generations to discover one of the most authentic expressions of Italian identity.
The art of making, knowledge passed down through time, and the ability to transform raw materials into beauty: these are the values that inspire Mani d'Oro.
Designed to introduce younger generations to the world of Italian master craftsmanship, the project enters schools with the goal of showcasing the cultural, human, and professional heritage preserved by the master artisans of our country.
At the heart of the initiative is the illustrated volume Mani d'Oro, a collection of ten stories dedicated to the leading figures of contemporary artistic craftsmanship. Through words and images, the book guides students in discovering professions that combine tradition and innovation: from tailoring to violin making, from glassmaking to ceramics, from leatherworking to jewelry making, from restoration to textiles and paper arts.
We are particularly proud to have been selected among the protagonists of this important initiative, alongside individuals and organizations that represent the international excellence of Italian craftsmanship and manufacturing: Mario Buccellati, Caterina Crepax, Marta Cucchia, Dolce&Gabbana, Salvatore Ferragamo, Gio Batta Morassi, Giuseppe Rivadossi, Lino Tagliapietra, and Isabella Villafranca Soissons.
Each story featured in the book demonstrates how every creation is the result of years of experience, research, dedication, and sensitivity. It is an intangible heritage that lives through the hands of those who continue to preserve and renew it every day, viewing their craft not only as a profession but also as a form of cultural expression.
Mani d'Oro was also born from the awareness that many artisanal skills are now at risk of disappearing. For this reason, the project carries a value that goes beyond simple dissemination of knowledge: it seeks to inspire, create connections, and present young people with new professional opportunities rooted in quality, creativity, and a deep connection to local traditions and territories.
Participating in this initiative means helping to build a bridge between past and future, between the memory of ancient gestures and the opportunities available to new generations. It means conveying that craftsmanship is not only heritage, but also innovation, vision, and possibility.
We would like to thank Librì - Progetti Educativi, the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte, and The Place of Wonders Foundation for conceiving and promoting this valuable cultural project, as well as the authors Claudio Castellacci and Patrizia Sanvitale, and illustrator Ilaria Urbinati, who have given shape and voice to a story capable of conveying the true value of Italian craftsmanship.
Because every great work begins with an idea. But it is through the hands that the idea comes to life.
