AT DEDALUS DI BRA

Curated by Axel Iberti and promoted by the City of Bra together with the Fondazione Piero Fraire, the exhibition revisits the myth of Daedalus – the first “designer” of our civilization – as a metaphor for the human ability to imagine, build, and give shape to the world. From this premise, Dedalus Bra takes flight, gathering together a remarkable constellation of authors in a fascinating Italian journey through the world of design, objects, and tools which, by definition, represent the anthropological evolution of Western civilization, and which in this exhibition sometimes question it in a moving search for the Mediterranean and spiritual roots of our culture.
Because in truth, we are “All Designers.” Each of us is engaged in a project, involved in a professional path or a life goal, made up of small dreams and great desires, driven by the unstoppable impulse to create — the urgency to build in order to leave a mark, to make our voices heard, to see ourselves and be recognized.
Yes, we are all designers, but some are more so than others. In the maze of opportunities, some truly are designers by profession — questioning, investigating, and reimagining as their daily work.
This journey intertwines the languages of historical masters such as Ettore Sottsass, Gaetano Pesce, and Alessandro Mendini with those of contemporary designers committed to redefining the boundaries of design. Within this creative labyrinth finds its place Girotondo, the limited edition by Sara Ricciardi, which translates the universal gesture of holding hands into a choral and symbolic form. A poetic sign, suspended between ritual and memory, becoming both object and sculpture. An invitation to pause and to listen, bringing to the heart of the exhibition the lightness and depth of a girotondo.
