TRIENNALE MILANO

From 4th September to 31st October, the Quadreria space becomes the theatre for Fittile, a journey into ceramics curated by the artist, architect and designer Ugo La Pietra. The iconic figure of Italian applied arts wanted the monumental presence of Rometti among the works on display: two Totems, in a special terracotta finish, act as supporting columns at the entrance to the show. Another exclusive space was given to the last great work of Jean-Christophe Clair, Artistic Director of Rometti: Arythmie has an enveloping and incessant Baroque air. The vase tells of an energy that dances and evolves, an entrelac of music and ceramics that blends the multifaceted artistic paths of its author.

A new edition of the Triennale in Milan in collaboration with the Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte Foundation brings the masters of design and craftsmanship together in a unique setting. Fittile proposes a fascinating journey through Italian artistic ceramics;  an ancestral know-how, widespread throughout the national territory with typologies, techniques, materials, workshops, authors of wealth and diversity unique in the world. This extraordinary selection of works stems from the great expertise of Ugo La Pietra; artist, architect and designer and a historical figure of reference for Italian applied arts and specifically ceramics. This is how Ugo La Pietra explains his curatorial choices: “Today, in Italy, ceramics are expressed through an ever-increasing number of artists and artisans almost always linked, directly or indirectly, to traditional areas. The works presented in this exhibition are an incomplete representative overview of artists who express themselves through workmanship and an undoubted personal expressive language. Technique and poetry are the two values with their double presence give meaning to the exhibition; choices that in a conscious way do not recognize their work as belonging to the art system or the design system. Conceptuality and spectacularity are the two parameters that we often find present in identical proportions in the exhibits. Objects that refer to the main archetype in common use, but also endowed with a strong symbolic charge: the vase. "
