DIALOGUES
NEGROPONTES GALLERY
PARIS

The profound link between the Italian ceramic manufacturer Rometti and the world of art exhibitions continues to grow in an iconic space of contemporary expression: from 19th May to 5th August 2022, the Negropontes gallery in Paris opens its doors to the first stage of a journey combining different art forms.

The first dialogue explores the connection between ceramics and tapestries, between artists and craftsmen, between creators and means of expression: Pinton, the Aubusson tapestry manufacturer, and Rometti, the ceramic manufacturer. The stories, the unique pieces, the collections and the emotions of the two brands are intertwined in an art continuum in which you can immerse yourself for the duration of the Negropontes exhibition. The gallery has created a dynamic of deep bonds, in which 6 textile works speak with 6 ceramic works of 6 different themes: movement, color, nature, immateriality, organicity and imagination. The pieces by Rometti chosen for this conversation between apparently distant art worlds are the Arythmie vase by Jean-Christophe Clair, Seme Scudo Orizzontale by designer Sara Ricciardi, the iconic pieces by Ambrogio Pozzi Venere Macro, Presenza Sciamano e Presenza Pugnace in new finishes, and the pieces designed by polyhedric figures like Benjamin Poulanges and Jean-Christophe Malaval. Arythmie, the most recent work by Rometti's Art Director Jean-Christophe Clair, releases the energy of movement with its forms that fly as if fleeing from their static reality. The vase is combined with the Constellation tapestry by Jean Arp, with which it shares the same sensation of free and incessant movement. The idyllic Garden of Eden of Roger Mühl's tapestry finds its sculptural reflection in Venere, the famous work by Ambrogio Pozzi and Rometti that evokes a primitive divinity archetype of femininity. The artistic legacy of Miró and Picasso is the inspiration for two other creations by Ambrogio Pozzi and Rometti: Presenza Sciamano and Presenza Pugnace. The two pieces emanate an immaterial and ancestral spirituality that echoes the work of Pierre Dimitrienko and his abstract paintings. The Seme Scudo Orizzontale by Sara Ricciardi is one of only 38 limited edition pieces in the Semina collection, created by the designer with Rometti. The Seme is a symbol of an act of rebirth that passes from the pain of a break, to blossom and revealing its most beautiful nature. In the same way, the Emile Gilioli tapestry gives a feeling of transition and ascendancy with strong and decisive colours.
